Is “Fetch as Googlebot” seeming a newer term? Assessing an entered URL and send it to Google for indexing in a fresh edge, you can use this Webmaster Tools feature of Google. Here, I am presenting you the article “Fetch as Googlebot” and its complete usage as the SEO samurai.

What Is The “Fetch As Googlebot” Feature?

You can find two different modes of this new feature-

  1. Fetch > Quick Check

Googlebot will follow the path that you will specify and crawl a URL according to it in this mode of this feature. You can check basic errors, security issues, and connectivity or redirects issues on your website by this mode.

  1. Fetch & Render > Deeper View

In this mode of this feature the URL will be crawled by Google and it will show as the browser would show it. It works in the following steps-

– Googlebot takes all the referenced materials or resources that are given by the URL. e. g. JavaScript files, CSS, pictures, etc.

– These resources will render your page same as an image.

– This rendered image can differentiate the link of your page from Googlebot to browser’s rendering.

Some basic steps for your page are:

  1. Go to the Homepage of Webmaster Tools and find your site to select.
  2. Click the Crawl option from the left-hand navigation and select the Fetch as Google from there.
  3. Enter the URL path properties in the textbox which you need to retrieve through Googlebot.
  4. Choose the type from the gray colored drop-down menu for appropriate Googlebot mode to play a Quick Check or Fetch & Render.

Googlebot Requests Types

You can find four types of Googlebot requests for choosing the Fetch as Google. You can check how your site will be displayed from a desktop browser by choosing ‘Desktop’ and smartphone mobile browsers by choosing ‘Mobile Smartphone’. For a feature phone browser’s view, choose Mobile WML /XHTML or Mobile cHTML (Google tells that this is primarily for Japanese websites).

In choosing Fetch for basic mode, Google will get the HTTP response from your site, you can see it, and in the Fetch and Render mode, you can see the browser specified view with getting the response.

After entering the URL, you can fetch it and get the option for submitting to Google for indexing. You can now get the button for allowing the indexing of the Fetch details page in the upper right-hand corner.

Once, after submitting the URL that you are going to fetch, click on the given path after completing the submission. Then you can get the page with more information. You can get the fetched URL at the top of the page and Googlebot type after its completion. In case of choosing Fetch and Render, you can see two tabs for “Fetching” and “Rendering”.

You can get the HTTP response downloaded in the Fetching tab and it will be very helpful in ensuring your status page. In addition, you can get the page codes through this and you now get the number of page downloads at the bottom. The Rendering tab allows you to know the page rendering in the selected browsers of the Smartphone / Desktop. In addition, you can have the list, which Googlebot could not be accessed.

How Many Times Can You Make The Fetches And Submissions?

However, there is a limit for making the fetches and submissions, but you will never finish it and it is 500 times fetches per week. Google will make a notification after 400 fetches towards exceeding the limit. In case of actual submission to the Google index, you can get 500 individual URL submissions and Google’s 10 crawled submissions more.
